How Do You Stay Fashionable & Fresh Without Spending Top Dollar?

15 Jun

You need to find ways to incorporate items already in your closet that will work with the hot summer fashion trends:

  • Bright colors.
  • Mixing clashing colors.
  • Patterns; geometric, floral, tribal.
  • Mixing patterns
  • Mid-length skirts.

In the spirit of the post-recession frugality, nearly any pairing goes.  Try new combinations of clothes you already have, clashing colors and pattern mixing, a former fashion no-no, are now a huge fashion trend for summer.  After spending some time sifting through your closet you need to identify your wardrobe gaps and make a shopping list of needs and desires.

NOW it’s time to go shopping and remember to look for items that can span multiple seasons or be easily modified and follow these easy shopping tips!!!!

  • Scour consignment and resale shops for affordable, gently used high-end garments.
  • Do your research online and look for coupons you can use in the store.
  • Make a game plan.  Instead of wandering aimlessly through a mall, make a detailed list of stores to hit and items to purchase.
  • Budget a time frame to complete your shopping and avoid overspending.

Speaking of shopping, I have to share a pretty addictive iPhone app called Poshmark that I think is amazing.  It gives me the opportunity to buy and sell fashion through a free app.  Poshmark is like an on-line consignment store.

I  have access and get invitations to attend real-time shopping events called “posh parties” through the app, with themes ranging from “leather & lace” to “animal print.”  Poshmark lets me follow other users with similar tastes to mine.
