Campaigns such as Mirrorless Monday

are important preventative measures, helping individuals to

realize the dangers of an unhealthy body image

while promoting healthy practices.

Cover a mirror at your school, place of employment or your house with paper and write words of positive affirmations or thought-provoking questions.

National Eating Disorder Awareness Week theme is “Everybody Knows Somebody” because awareness of eating disorders is certainly spreading. Last year, NEDAwareness Week registrants spanned all 50 states and 30 other countries. Let’s help them have another record-breaking year in 2013, and have everyone commit to doing just one thing!

The Mission:
The aim of NEDAwareness Week is to ultimately prevent eating disorders and body image issues while reducing the stigma surrounding eating disorders and improving access to treatment. Eating disorders are serious, life-threatening illnesses – not choices – and it’s important to recognize the pressures, attitudes and behaviors that shape the disorder.
