Sharpie Nail Art

We all love Sharpies…and why shouldn’t we?  They’re brilliant, incredibly versatile little tools, used around the world for everything from signing autographs to creating beautiful artwork.

Sometimes just saying “Sharpie” can make a person smile because the possibilities are endless!

sharpie 8A few days ago I was in one of those fun paper stores when I saw the new gold, bronze + silver Sharpies.  Of course I bought all three of them.  I Thought I would give them a try on my nails and see if they would stay put when a top coat was added.  BOOM.  My new favorite nail art tool was discovered.

Four simple steps to make amazing Sharpie art nails!

  1. Pick a favorite color-I used two coats.
  2. Draw your design with a Sharpie.
  3. Go over the design with a final top coat.
  4. SMILE because your rocking some super cute nails.

It came out even better than I had imagined.  It’s really hard to get a super-reflective gold paint for your nails– particularly one that’s easy to use.  This is one of the easiest applications ever because everyone knows how to use a pen.   So glad I stumbled upon these gems!

Some helpful tips:

  • If you mess up, you can wipe it off gently with rubbing alcohol without smudging your polish– this literally makes your nail kinda like a dry erase board!
  • Let the metallic paint dry and then add your top coat.  I painted my top coats on pretty quickly and had zero problems with smudging or discoloration.
  • Sharpie also makes “paint pens” and these are NOT those, so make sure you get the one above in the photo.
  • To remove, simply wipe your nails off with nail polish remover.

  • Try not to get any sharpie on your skin~it doesn’t come off as easily as on your nails.
  • Fat sharpies will be easier to work with than the thin ones, but you can use both.
  • Coloring your nail with sharpies WON’T tint your nails yellow, it’s only a rumour.
  • Sharpies can be better than nail polish as it can be easier to draw designs!

Need a quick fun change on your nails?   No worries…you can just use a Sharpie.

I think I LOVE IT.  Love love love.  Just remember no naked nails!
