Does Sunscreen Expire?

28 Jun

After cold gray days of winter, we deserve to enjoy the summer going to the beach ,BBQ and a little sun-kissed color  on our skin to look healthier but have you ever asked yourself “is my sunscreen from last year still good?”

coppertone-sweatproof-waterproof-sunscreenSunscreens are designed to remain at original strength for up to three years. This means that you can use leftover sunscreen from one year to the next.

sunblock and legsIf you buy sunscreen that doesn’t have an expiration date, write the date of purchase on the bottle. Also, discard sunscreen that is more than 3 years old, has been exposed to high temperatures or has obvious changes in color or consistency.

Expiry-Dates-SunscreenTo maximize protection, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more. Apply sunscreen generously 20 to 30 minutes before going outdoors and reapply about every two hours or more often if you’re swimming or sweating. Be sure to rub the sunscreen in well.

sun-exposureDon’t want to expose your skin to the sun’s damaging rays, but still want that sun-kissed glow? Consider trying sunless tanning products. Sunless tanning products might or might not contain sunscreen. If a product does contain sunscreen, it will only be effective for a couple of hours. The color produced by the sunless tanning product won’t protect your skin from ultraviolet rays.

Lucia wins out, though, when it comes to island destinations this
year. Make proper inquiries of the trial you are thinking about before
embarking on it. Bringing your children on a Caribbean vacation will be
genuinely a great choice the kids will definitely
love playing in the crystal clear waters and playing with the fine sand,
in addition to booking excellent hotels and taking part in harmless and fun activities.
