Say Hello to Summer With A Crisp Pair of White Denim

2 Aug

White jeans are, for many, both a style blessing (so crisp and fresh!) and a curse (so difficult to fit!).

One master tip: Don’t be discouraged by what the size tag says, as white denim usually means having to go up a size to achieve a super smooth look.

I was not a white jeans fan for many years.  My husband kept asking me to buy some white jeans, I hated how they looked on the back of my legs.  While I don’t have big legs, I was not wild about how the jeans looked.   I finally bit the bullet and went to Nordstrom for an afternoon of white jeans shopping.  I headed to the Savy department.  I must have tried on 20 pairs (all shapes and sizes) and ended up loving a pair of Citizens of Humanity.

CURVY Hourglass girls should look for lots of stretch. Paige Denim is known for offering more forgiveness for those of us with curvy hips and rears—look for a pair with 69% cotton, 30% polyester, and 1% elastane. A straight leg helps keep the silhouette.

PETITE
A super skinny cut that fits like a glove works for shorter gals. Look for a 30-inch inseam on a pair of skinny jeans so they won’t overwhelm you.

TALL
If you’ve got it, flaunt it. Tall girls can wear a pair of white jeans with heels, look for super long, 35-inch inseam. A flare style makes your stems look even longer (we’re jealous!). Balance out the length with a long tank or blouse tied at the waist.

ATHLETIC
Rear pockets placed higher up with criss-crossed stitching help give your butt a lift. Jeans that have 2% stretch can help to hug all the right places. NYDJ (Not Your Daughters Jeans) actually suggests going a size smaller in their jeans.
