Greens For Eyes Are RED-HOT!

24 Aug

Here’s how to pull off green eyeshadow successfully.

This week I’m inspired by the colors that Pantone predicts will be trendiest for Fall—and use them to create green with envy eyes!

One thing you’ll notice is that there is a lot of green going on—green shadow, green nail polish, and even turquoise green mascara.

Green, in all its verdant varieties, has been a huge trend both in fashion and beauty this season.

I’m not going to lie, the idea of green makeup freaked me out at first; unless you were talking about forest green eye liner, anything lighter or brighter just seemed scary.  So that’s actually why I decided to break down exactly how to make green eye makeup work.

Steps:

  1. Apply the palest green up to the brow-bone. Blend till even and smooth.
  2. Blend the second shade to the eyebrow crease with the eye-shadow applicator.
  3. Add the eyeliner. Create a clean sharp line on top of the eyelid and extend towards the edge of the eye.
  4.  Add the third shade or layer of green on top of the eyeliner to help blend the shades for maximum impact. You can soften or enhance the colour at this stage.
  5. Add another layer of eyeliner on top of the eyeshadow to emphasize your eyes and you can create a smoky effect with a thicker eyeliner.
  6. Finish with either 1 or 2 coats of mascara.
  7. Limit the other colors on your face. Stick to neutral colours for the lips and cheeks.

Blending is the key to pulling this green look together.  Softening the edges and keeping everything smudgy and diffused instantly prettifies any shade of green, whether it’s shadow or liner.  My technique for combining colors of green is using tones and shades of the same color and mixing shimmer and shine for a new level of sophistication.

This season, greens for eyes are red-hot.  Nudge your way out of neutrals and look gorgeous day and night!
